"Fire Chief" Curtis L. Taylor, Jr.

September 2, 1956 - December 25, 2025

Curtis L. Taylor Jr., born in Martinsville, VA in 1956, dedicated his life to service and leadership. A graduate of New Rochelle High School and Blackburn University, he served 25 years with the New Rochelle Fire Department, rising to Fire Captain in 2000. In 2008, he became Fire Chief of the Village of Pelham, NY. Curtis proudly made history as the first Black Fire Captain in New Rochelle and the first Black Fire Chief in Pelham. A devoted husband, father of two, educator, and entrepreneur, his legacy will continue to inspire.

Louis Woodrow Taylor

December 12, 1933 - October 11, 2024

He was the second of eight children born to Rosa Lee and Henry Abraham Taylor. Louis is survived by his beloved wife, Marie; his daughter Tynnetta and son-in-law Tyrone; his daughter Zainab; and his sons Bilal and Naeem. A past President for the TGPS Family Reunion
